The world has changed. Five Hundred years have come and gone and the battles of old have fallen into myth and legend. Now something is stirring beyond the veil, something that has not awoken in a millennia past. The world has changed.....

An Intriguing Notion [Artemis] Empty An Intriguing Notion [Artemis]

The balls of the girl’s feet balanced precariously on the railing to the second story of the shopping center. To her right she could see an escalator going down; to her left she could see the one that was going up. Above her was a large, multi-colored, dome skylight; the intricate design made by the colored glass barely visible against the night sky. Looking down, she could see the one-story drop into what she could only consider the main attraction area of the mall. Around Christmas a large tree would be there, along with some decorations and a jolly-old-fat-man for little kids to take their pictures with. While times had changed for many civilians, the belief in something as magical as a man who rides around on sleigh and delivers presents to good little children seemed like something that was worth keeping alive… Even if it was a bit ridiculous.

Today, the attraction seemed to be something else all together.

A historical war attraction… Complete with images from World War I, World War II, World War III, and World War IV. The centerpiece? A Mark V tank from World War I. Normally such an attraction wouldn’t have a place where the general public could easily gawk at it, but this attraction had been put into place to give people an incentive to visit London’s newly renovated Historical Museum. It was part two of a five-part showcase to make humans see where they came from and where they could possibly be going. The first part had showcased the skeletal structure of a humongous beast and a display of the world as one massive continent. It had managed to gather quite the crowd, but the numbers were nothing compared to today. Being able to see an ancient war machine that seemed to be completely in tact. The machine, while a genius idea at the time, was no match against the SPX-15.

Being the most destructive race on the planet, humans had been able to not only destroy over half the planet, but had made excuses while doing it. If she was being completely honest, humans were great at coming up with excuses to justify their actions. Whether that reason was over religion, land, or financial necessities… They always found an excuse to destroy each other. In school, she had briefly studied about a war that lasted over a decade and was based on an idea. The country had believed that it was fighting a war for the world… Fighting a war on terrorism. A physical war with real casualties; based around an idea… Idiots.

Looking around, she saw a few bag ridden guests waiting at what she presumed were to be rendezvous points. The shopping day was over, a few stores already had their lights out, and the wings of the mall were almost completely empty, they were just waiting for their straggling shopping buddies to make their last purchases. Glancing from side to side, she looked at the few people who were left; from what she could see, none of them seemed to notice the teenage girl putting herself in what could possibly be a dangerous position. If they had been able to see her, then obviously none of them cared. Only one person had managed to see her since her death and she had practically chickened out of her only hope for salvation.

Taking an unnecessary breath, Delia balanced her way to the direct center of the railing and sat down, her feet hanging over the edge.
