Description: James stands at 6’2 with dark brown, rather unkempt hair; his eyes are so red that they seem luminescent. He is normally seen wearing worn and tattered black jeans with a leather belt and silver buckle. Normally he wears a button down short-sleeved black shirt with a two different necklaces one with a small flint arrowhead and the other a gold cross. He normally wears leather boots that look like they have seen better days.
On his left arm he carries a tattoo of the Wiccan pentagram superimposed over the tree of life. Four scars on his left shoulder mark him as an outcast to his own people. He is very careful not to smile to often as his teeth are pointed, one of the few characteristics that he cannot hide. Though at first look James looks like a normal human, upon closer inspection most of his body is covered with hard, but flexible scales.
When angered his dragon side takes over, making him take on a more dragon like appearance. His scales turn bright red and his fingernails become harder and sharper able to cut through stone and steel alike. His facial features become more pronounced making his sharpened teeth and red eyes stand out more.
History:Most of Artemis’ life as a dragon is sealed from him as part of his forced exile from his clan thus he cannot remember anything from before the time he woke up on the side of what is now Ben Nevis in the Scotland highlands. Aside from a few vague memories of his heritage and his family; Artemis knew nothing of where he had come from or where he was to go. To Artemis that was the day he was born and he has lived wandering the earth for a little over 1,500 years.
For a while he was a knight for a noble king acting as a guard and friend, but nothing saved Artemis the pain of watching his friend grow old and die. It was about this time that a British king by the name of Richard declared that every able bodied man was to fight in a war to reclaim the “holy lands” in the name of his so called deity. For 10 years Artemis fought man after man cutting them down with both sword and claw.
After Artemis faked his death in the crusades he took to wandering east till he reached the island of Japan, where he met an old monk that showed him that even though a dragon didn’t need to fear death as much as a human that he should still treasure life while he is alive to do so. He stayed as a brother of this temple until one day news of a new world reached his ears and he decided that it was time to wander once more.
In America Artemis lived happily in seclusion from humans though he did occasionally see a soul reaper running after hollows. It wasn’t until the 1930’s that Artemis was thrust back into the battlefield as World War II started. This time around Artemis worked as a medic and a spy he helped soldiers on the beach of Normandy, and in August of 1955 he was there when the bomb was dropped on Hiroshima.
From that point on Artemis has lived in Japan just outside Kyoto in a manor worthy of a feudal lord, to help pass the time he opened a dojo to take in pupils and keep sane. It was here that he met one of his now best friends and rival Sal Norogachi the rogue shinigami for the iconic fight in which his dojo was burned to the ground; because of which he met Terra an exile of her own dragon clan.
Artemis has been with Terra for a little over 500 years, and he has come to care for her a dragon would their mate, they have even sired a daughter together which he would go to hell and back for if the need arises. When the shinigami made themselves known to the worlds governments Artemis was the first to step up to help them in creating a secret spirit fighting team, after spending almost 100 years working with them he has finally decided to retire and go back to teaching at the dojo though he did keep a few souvenirs.
